Press Release Details

At approximately 12:15 a.m., the Epsom Police Department was dispatched to a residence on New Orchard Road for a male who had ran from his residence and appeared to be in mental distress and possibly armed with a firearm. The Epsom Police responded to the residence and met with the family member who was unharmed but concerned for the male’s mental condition. After securing the residence and ensuring the occupants' safety, Chief Preve contacted Chief Robert Cormier, Tilton PD and Commander of the Central NH Special Operations Unit for assistance in locating the subject. The immediate concern was for the community’s safety and the individual’s welfare due to the cold temperatures and mental stability.

The CNHSOU was activated to respond to the scene with approximately 30 operators and support personnel. The SOU units secured a perimeter and cleared the neighboring residences. At approximately 5:45 a.m., the SOU operators made verbal contact with the male subject, and at 6:01 a.m., the male surrendered to the SOU operators without incident. He was transported by Epsom Fire Rescue to Concord Hospital for evaluation and treated for frostbite and hypothermia.

The case is under investigation.
